AFRINIC extends consultation period for bylaws review process
AFRINIC has extended the deadline for community input on proposed bylaws revisions, citing the need for broader participation and more detailed feedback.
AFRINIC has extended the consultation period for its ongoing bylaws review until 17 May 2026.
The extension gives members and stakeholders additional time to submit comments and proposed amendments. AFRINIC said the decision was taken to support more comprehensive community feedback.
The review concerns the organisation’s governance framework. As the Regional Internet Registry responsible for Africa and the Indian Ocean region, AFRINIC oversees allocation and coordination of internet number resources, including IP addresses.
Bylaws reviews are significant because they define how institutional decisions are made, how accountability mechanisms function, and how the community participates in governance processes.
AFRINIC stated that the consultation is intended to ensure that its institutional framework remains “fit for purpose” as the organisation continues its governance review process.
The organisation has invited stakeholders to submit recommendations through its online consultation mechanism. All submissions received before the revised deadline will be reviewed by the committee overseeing the process.
