ICANN opens applications for NextGen@ICANN88 programme
ICANN is inviting university students living or studying in Europe to apply for its NextGen@ICANN programme, which will take place alongside the ICANN88 Community Forum in Lisbon in March 2027.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has opened applications for the NextGen@ICANN programme, offering university students an opportunity to learn about Internet governance and participate in an ICANN Public Meeting.
The programme is intended for students aged 18 to 30 who live or study in the European region. Participants will learn about ICANN, the Internet ecosystem and the organisation’s policy development processes, as well as ways to contribute to work supporting the stability and security of the Internet.
Selected participants will take part in preparatory courses and presentations beginning six weeks before the ICANN88 meeting. They will also be expected to give a 10-minute presentation during the meeting and will receive guidance from experienced mentors throughout the programme.
ICANN88 is scheduled to take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 13 to 18 March 2027. If the meeting is held virtually, the NextGen@ICANN programme will also be conducted online.
Applications are open from 31 August to 9 October 2026, with successful candidates expected to be announced on 17 December 2026.
