EU launches €6 Million call to boost nedia literacy and tackle online manipulation among youth

The European Commission has opened a €6 million call for proposals aimed at raising awareness of information integrity risks and strengthening media literacy among young Europeans. The initiative, part of the EU’s pilot projects and preparatory actions, seeks to equip people aged 15 to 30 with the knowledge and skills to navigate today’s complex online environment.

The funding will support two projects designed to address threats such as online manipulation techniques, conspiracy theories, and the misuse of generative AI. A key feature of the initiative is the involvement of young people themselves through youth-inclusive and participatory approaches. By doing so, the projects are expected to ensure that the solutions and campaigns resonate with younger audiences.

The Commission also encourages collaboration between different actors — for example, between social media influencers and professionals in information integrity — to reach new audiences in innovative ways. The goal is to create partnerships that not only inform but also actively engage young people in recognising and countering manipulative content.

The call for proposals is open to content creators, media organisations, technology companies, civil society groups, and social media platforms. Applications can be submitted between 30 September and 2 December 2025 via the EU’s Funding and Tenders Portal.
