Training parliamentarians on digital rights ahead of FIFAfrica

Ahead of FIFAfrica 2024, a two-day training session held from 24–25 September 2024 in Dakar brought together 13 parliamentarians from 10 African countries. Organised by CIPESA and partners, the training focused on practical frameworks for digital rights and collaborative policymaking.

Sessions included platform accountability during elections, online censorship, and the role of MPs in multilateral review mechanisms such as the Universal Periodic Review. Discussions were framed around the risks posed by digital repression and the urgency of protecting civil liberties in election periods. The training helped forge alliances between legislators and digital rights advocates, and supported cross-country learning.
