ICANN’s 2026 new gTLD application window closes on 12 August
ICANN’s application period for the 2026 round of the New Generic Top-Level Domains Program closes on 12 August 2026, with applicants also required to meet separate deadlines for payment of the evaluation fee.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has reminded applicants that the application window for the 2026 New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program closes at 23:59 UTC on 12 August 2026.
Applicants must also ensure that ICANN receives the full gTLD evaluation fee by whichever date is later: 23:59 UTC on 19 August 2026, or seven days after the invoice was issued. For example, an invoice issued on 14 August must be paid by 23:59 UTC on 21 August.
ICANN has advised applicants with questions to contact its support team while preparing their applications. However, applicants are encouraged not to delay submission while waiting for answers unless the issue directly affects their ability to submit an application.
After submission, questions relating to individual applications should be submitted through ICANN’s TAMS system. ICANN said updates to the programme will be published on its News and Announcements page and communicated directly to applicants who have submitted applications.
