A call for proposals has been launched for community-led sessions at Open Source Week 2026, inviting contributions from across the global open source ecosystem.
A call for proposals has been opened for community-led side events at Open Source Week 2026, inviting developers, organisations and researchers to contribute to discussions and activities on open source technologies.
The call focuses on events scheduled for 26 June 2026, where selected participants will be able to organise workshops, lead discussions and present projects aimed at strengthening collaboration in the open source community. Submissions are open until 31 March 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
UN Open Source Week is part of broader efforts within the UN system to promote the use of open, collaborative digital technologies in areas such as digital public infrastructure, governance and innovation. Open source software is increasingly seen as a tool to improve transparency, interoperability and local capacity in digital systems.
The initiative reflects growing international interest in open source as a component of digital policy, particularly in supporting inclusive and sustainable technological development.
Selected proposals will contribute to shaping the programme of the 2026 event, which aims to bring together stakeholders from government, civil society, academia and the private sector.
