Applications open for the ARIN 57 Fellowship Program in the ARIN region

The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) has opened applications for its ARIN 57 Fellowship Program, inviting participants from the ARIN region to engage more closely with internet governance and internet number resource policy. Applications are open until 26 January 2026.

The fellowship is designed as an introductory pathway for individuals who want to better understand how policies governing internet number resources are developed and discussed within the ARIN community. It is open to applicants aged 18 and over who reside in the ARIN region and can demonstrate an interest in ARIN’s mission and its Policy Development Process.

What the fellowship involves

Selected fellows will participate in a series of virtual sessions before and after the ARIN 57 Public Policy and Members Meeting, which will be held from April 19 to 22, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, with online participation also available. Attendance at the meeting, either in person or remotely, will be determined by the Fellowship Selection Committee.

Throughout the programme, fellows are paired with experienced mentors from the ARIN community. This mentoring is intended to help participants navigate discussions, ask questions, and gain confidence in contributing to policy debates.

Focus on participation and capacity development

According to ARIN, the fellowship aims to lower barriers to participation in internet governance by offering structured guidance and practical exposure to policy processes. Fellows are encouraged to actively engage in discussions, seek feedback, and develop a working understanding of how decisions about internet number resources are made.

Applicants are expected to have a basic familiarity with ARIN’s services, the internet number resources it manages, and the processes outlined in the Number Resource Policy Manual. The programme is positioned as a learning opportunity rather than an advocacy role, focusing on informed participation and long-term community engagement.

Application process

Further details about eligibility, selection criteria and programme conditions are available through ARIN’s Fellowship Program portal. Prospective applicants can also contact ARIN directly for additional information or to request a letter outlining the benefits of participation for employers.
