ICANN opens applications for NextGen@ICANN86 program

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has opened applications for the next group of participants in the NextGen@ICANN program, which will take place during ICANN86 in Seville, Spain, from 8 to 11 June 2026. The call is open to university students living or studying in the European region, and will apply whether the meeting is held in person or virtually.

NextGen@ICANN is designed to introduce students aged 18 to 30 to ICANN’s role in the technical governance of the internet. The program provides structured learning on the internet ecosystem, the multistakeholder model and ICANN’s policy-development processes. Participants receive guidance from experienced mentors and are expected to deliver a short presentation during the meeting.

The program runs in parallel with ICANN Public Meetings and includes a six-week preparatory phase, during which selected participants attend online courses and briefings before joining sessions at the main event.

The application window is open from 1 December 2025 to 9 January 2026, with selected candidates to be announced on 17 February 2026. Details and application materials are available on the NextGen@ICANN website.
