ICANN extends deadline for UA Day 2026 event proposals
Proposals must be submitted by 24 November 2025. Accepted hosts will contribute to a global series of coordinated activities aimed at improving multilingual access to the internet’s infrastructure.
ICANN has issued an updated call for proposals for Universal Acceptance (UA) Day 2026, announcing that the deadline for organisations to submit event plans has been extended from 9 November to 24 November 2025. The revision updates an earlier announcement made on 9 October 2025.
UA Day is jointly supported by ICANN and UNESCO, reflecting their shared goal of promoting multilingualism and equitable access to the online world. Universal Acceptance is viewed as a key enabler of a more linguistically diverse internet, enabling users to create and utilise digital identities in their own languages and scripts.
Who can participate
ICANN encourages proposals from a broad range of groups, including community networks, governments, tech providers, language communities, standards bodies, open-source organisations and academic institutions.
Next steps
Organisations interested in hosting a UA Day 2026 event must submit their proposals by 24 November 2025, the new extended deadline. More information about Universal Acceptance and the proposal process is available on ICANN’s website.
