On 31 May 2024, CADE participated in the WSIS Forum in Geneva with a session on Empowering Civil Society in Digital Policy. Representatives from the ITU, DiploFoundation, ECNL and SMEX joined the panel to discuss why CSO participation remains limited in internet standards-setting bodies, and how this can change.
Speakers proposed concrete improvements to inclusivity in ITU study groups and explored how civil society organisations can influence digital norms through policy submissions, alliances and targeted technical engagement. The session served as an early platform to raise awareness about CADE’s goals and deepen ties with multilateral actors.
