WSIS+20: Second Preparatory Meeting held at UN Headquarters

WSIS+20: Second Preparatory Meeting held at UN Headquarters

Member States and observers met on 15 October 2025 (10:00–13:00) in the ECOSOC Chamber, United Nations Headquarters, New York for the Second Preparatory Meeting of the WSIS+20 General Assembly overall review. Convened by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) through its Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG), the meeting provided a formal setting to present views on the Zero Draft and outline expectations for the review process.

The session built on inputs gathered during informal stakeholder consultations and focused on refining a forward-looking outcome document. Delegations discussed progress to date, persistent and emerging challenges, and proposed practical recommendations to strengthen global cooperation toward an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable digital future. The revised text will inform deliberations at the General Assembly’s WSIS+20 overall review later in 2025.

Statements were delivered by Member States, including Mexico and Palau.

The full statements from the meeting, along with related materials (agenda and video), are available on the official WSIS+20 Second Preparatory Meeting page. For additional information, contact the Secretariat (UN DESA/DPIDG) at https://publicadministration.desa.un.org/wsis20/2ndprepmeeting.
