The 20th IGF 2025 kicks of today in Norway
With five days of sessions, workshops, and community exchanges ahead, IGF 2025 promises to be a pivotal moment for assessing progress and charting a collaborative path for the next era of digital governance.

The 20th edition of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) officially begins today, 23 June 2025, in Lillestrøm, Norway. The five-day event, hosted in a hybrid format at the Nova Spektrum conference centre just outside Oslo, brings together global stakeholders to shape the future of the internet.
Held under the overarching theme Building Governance Together, this anniversary forum places a strong focus on inclusive, democratic, and sustainable approaches to digital policy. It draws participation from governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, and international organisations, all contributing to open dialogue on key issues such as digital trust, cybersecurity, AI, and equitable access.
Opening the forum, Chengetai Masango, Head of the IGF Secretariat, welcomed attendees and underscored the significance of this milestone. Norway’s Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance, Karianne Oldernes Tung, echoed this message, highlighting the forum’s relevance in today’s complex geopolitical climate and the lead-up to the WSIS+20 review later this year. She reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to supporting the renewal of the IGF mandate at the UN General Assembly and called for joint action to protect an open, secure, and inclusive internet.
The IGF Village is once again one of the central features of the event, offering a space for organisations and companies to present technologies and initiatives that support a rights-respecting and globally accessible internet. Among the active participants is CADE, hosting both a physical presence at booth #57 and an interactive virtual booth. Throughout the week, CADE invites attendees to join their peer learning community and explore recent findings on how civil society organisations (CSOs) and the IGF community are already exchanging knowledge, analysing the digital policy landscape, and promoting human-centric governance, particularly with greater participation from the Global South.
