RIPE NCC opens consultation on new charging scheme models
The RIPE Network Coordination Centre has launched the first phase of its consultation on proposed changes to its annual fee structure, seeking member feedback on two alternative charging models.
The RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) has opened Phase 1 of its Charging Scheme Consultation, inviting members to provide feedback on two proposed approaches for calculating the organisation’s annual fee. This annual fee represents the bulk of the RIPE NCC’s income and applies to all members.
The consultation centres on two draft models: Model A, a category-based structure, and Model B, a formula-based system. To help members understand how each option would affect their contributions, the RIPE NCC has made available interactive calculators that allow users to test the models using their own resource holdings or alternative scenarios.
The organisation is specifically seeking input on how these models function in practice. Members are encouraged to comment on whether the approaches are fair, easy to understand and broadly suitable for the diverse RIPE NCC membership. Questions, suggestions and concerns can be shared on the Members Discuss mailing list.
Further information and links to calculators and consultation materials are available on the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme Consultation page.
