ICANN to host Africa Engagement and DNS Forums in Ghana
Both events are designed to encourage collaboration and exchange across governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, the technical community, academia, and civil society.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has announced that two major regional events will take place in Accra, Ghana, on 9–10 December 2025: the Africa Engagement Forum and the Africa DNS Forum. Both gatherings are expected to bring together a wide range of African stakeholders to discuss internet governance, technical developments, and the future of the Domain Name System (DNS).
The Africa Engagement Forum, scheduled for 9 December, will be co-hosted by the Association of African Universities and ICANN. The program will focus on regional priorities, including internet governance, Universal Acceptance, and the upcoming round of new generic top-level domains (gTLDs). It will also provide updates on the Coalition for Digital Africa. ICANN leaders will take part in open discussions with the community, creating a platform for local perspectives and priorities to be shared.
On 10 December, the Africa DNS Forum will take place under the theme ‘Resiliency of the DNS in Africa.’ Organised in partnership with the Africa Top Level Domains Organization and the AfRegistrar Association, the forum will address the technical and business issues shaping Africa’s domain name industry. Key topics will include registry and registrar services, DNS resilience, technological innovation, and ways to strengthen Africa’s participation in the global DNS landscape.
Both events aim to foster collaboration among governments, businesses, civil society, academia, and the technical community. ICANN says that by engaging diverse voices, the forums will help support the continued growth of the internet in Africa and enhance the region’s role in global internet governance.
Registration information and detailed agendas will be published in the coming weeks. For more information, visit https://www.icann.org/africa-forums or contact gseafrica@icann.org
