ICANN selects 40 global participants for ICANN85 Fellowship in Mumbai
The ICANN Fellowship Program is designed to help people from underserved and underrepresented communities gain the knowledge and experience needed to participate meaningfully in ICANN’s multistakeholder processes.
ICANN has announced the 40 individuals chosen for the ICANN85 Fellowship Program, which will take place during the ICANN85 Community Forum from 7–12 March 2026 in Mumbai, India. The selected fellows come from 37 countries and represent a wide range of stakeholder groups involved in internet governance.
The ICANN Fellowship Program is designed to help people from underserved and underrepresented communities gain the knowledge and experience needed to participate meaningfully in ICANN’s multistakeholder processes. Fellows are introduced to ICANN’s policy work, technical operations, and the global structures that support the Domain Name System (DNS) and internet stability.
Participants typically include individuals from civil society, government agencies, country code top-level domain (ccTLD) operators, business, academia, security communities and technical groups. The programme aims to diversify global participation and broaden the perspectives represented in ICANN’s policy-making environment.
ICANN received 319 applications for this edition of the fellowship, highlighting continued demand for capacity-building opportunities in the internet governance sphere. The 40 successful candidates will receive tailored support, mentorship and onboarding to help them engage with working groups, sessions and community structures during the meeting.
