ICANN opens nominations for 2026 leadership program
Civil society members active in ICANN community groups can take part in the 2026 Leadership Program if nominated by their organization’s chair.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has launched a call for nominations for its 2026 Leadership Program, scheduled to take place on March 5–6, 2026, in Mumbai, India, ahead of the ICANN85 Community Forum.
The program is designed to help both current and incoming community leaders enhance their understanding of ICANN’s decision-making processes and develop the facilitation skills necessary to engage in global internet governance. It has become a regular feature of ICANN’s calendar, aimed at preparing participants to take on leadership roles within the organisation’s multistakeholder community.
To apply, candidates must be nominated by the chair of their Supporting Organization, Advisory Committee, or stakeholder group. This means that participation is open not only to representatives from governments and the private sector but also to civil society actors who are already engaged in ICANN’s community structures. The organisation will reach out directly to group chairs for nominations, and those endorsed will receive a registration link.
The nomination deadline is set for 21 November 2025. While the program does not cover travel costs to Mumbai, it will provide accommodation and a stipend for the two-day session.
