ICANN opens NextGen@ICANN87 applications for Asia Pacific students
ICANN has launched applications for its NextGen@ICANN programme, offering university students in the Asia Pacific region the opportunity to engage in internet governance discussions.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has opened applications for the NextGen@ICANN87 programme, inviting university students from the Asia Pacific region to participate in its upcoming annual meeting.
The programme will run alongside the ICANN87 Annual General Meeting, scheduled for 17–22 October 2026 in Muscat, Oman. Applications are open from 23 March to 1 May 2026, with selected candidates to be announced on 7 July 2026.
NextGen@ICANN is aimed at students aged 18 to 30 who are interested in internet governance and the technical coordination of the internet. Participants receive training on topics such as the domain name system, policy development and the multistakeholder model, and are expected to complete preparatory sessions and present their work during the meeting.
The programme is part of ICANN’s broader efforts to support youth engagement and build capacity in global internet governance processes.
