ICANN opens call for 2027 NomCom Chair and Chair-Elect positions
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is seeking candidates to lead its 2027 Nominating Committee, which is responsible for selecting key leadership positions across the ICANN ecosystem.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has launched a call for expressions of interest for the 2027 NomCom Chair and Chair-Elect roles.
The NomCom plays a central role in ICANN governance. It selects certain members of the ICANN Board, as well as leaders within Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees.
The Chair is responsible for managing the committee’s work. This includes organising meetings, overseeing candidate evaluations, and ensuring compliance with ICANN procedures and bylaws.
The Chair-Elect position was introduced following an independent review of the NomCom. The role is designed to provide training and continuity, with the expectation that the Chair-Elect may later succeed to the Chair position.
ICANN states that candidates should have recent NomCom experience, strong organisational and leadership skills, and familiarity with the ICANN ecosystem. They must also remain free of conflicts of interest.
The process includes independent evaluations of current NomCom leadership. These assessments will inform recommendations made to the ICANN Board before appointments are finalised.
Expressions of interest are due by 29 May 2026.
