ICANN names future meeting hosts for 2026–2027
CANN has announced the host cities for three upcoming public meetings, confirming events in Seville in June 2026, Muscat in October 2026, and Vancouver in June 2027.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has announced the host cities for three of its upcoming public meetings, confirming its continued practice of rotating events across global regions. The selected locations cover Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, with meetings scheduled through mid-2027.
Where the meetings will be held
ICANN86, the 2026 Policy Forum, will take place in Seville, Spain, from 8–11 June 2026. This marks the first time an ICANN public meeting will be held in Seville. Spain last hosted an ICANN meeting in 2018, when ICANN63 was held in Barcelona.
ICANN87, the 2026 Annual General Meeting, will be held in Muscat, Oman, from 17–22 October 2026. Muscat had originally been planned to host ICANN84, but that event was postponed. The meeting will be hosted by Oman’s Telecommunications Authority.
ICANN89, the 2027 Policy Forum, is set for Vancouver, Canada, from 14–17 June 2027. Vancouver previously hosted an ICANN meeting in 2005.
Significance of ICANN public meetings
ICANN organises three public meetings each year, one in each of its global regions. These meetings bring together governments, businesses, civil society, technical experts, and other stakeholders to discuss policy development for the internet’s domain name system.
Sessions typically cover a wide range of issues, from top-level domain management to data access policies and DNS security. The events also provide space for training, community updates, and direct engagement between the ICANN Board, staff, and participants.
Attendance is open to anyone, with no registration fee, and sessions are accessible both in-person and online.
What’s next
ICANN has published Board resolutions confirming each location and has shared additional details on its meetings website, including background on earlier scheduling decisions. As planning progresses, the organisation is expected to provide logistical updates, session schedules, and participation guidance for community members preparing for the events.
