European Commission holds fifth civil society roundtable on Digital Services Act

The European Commission held its fifth online roundtable with civil society organisations and researchers on 23 September 2026, as part of its ongoing engagement on the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA).

The meeting brought together around 60 organisations and focused on systemic risks and measures to mitigate them. Participants shared findings from their analysis of platforms’ risk assessment reports and independent research on systemic risks and mitigation measures.

The Commission outlined key steps in the DSA enforcement process and discussed how civil society and academia can contribute to implementation and enforcement. Participants also exchanged views on research methodologies, access to data, and practical challenges faced by researchers and civil society organisations.

The discussion covered recent Commission enforcement actions and priorities, including the protection of minors, online marketplaces, and risks related to artificial intelligence. Participants also discussed the recently presented proposal for an EU KIDS Act.

The roundtable forms part of the Commission’s ongoing engagement with civil society and researchers on the implementation of the DSA and efforts to promote a safer, more transparent and accountable online environment.
