Consultation on updated ICP-2 principles closes with broad global participation
Nearly 300 stakeholders across all Regional Internet Registries contributed feedback to the review of the ICP-2 principles, which guide the recognition and evaluation of RIRs.
The Number Resource Organization (NRO) has closed the public feedback period on the proposed updates to the Internet Coordination Policy 2 (ICP-2) principles, marking an important step in the review of the framework that underpins how Regional Internet Registries are recognised and evaluated.
The consultation, open from October 8 to December 6, 2024, gathered 298 responses from across the global internet community. Participation was strongest from APNIC’s Asia-Pacific region, which accounted for more than half of all submissions. AFRINIC, RIPE NCC, ARIN and LACNIC communities also contributed, reflecting broad regional engagement in the process.
The next phase will involve a qualitative analysis of the submissions, with the NRO planning to share the findings publicly in the coming weeks. The aim of this review is to update ICP-2 in a way that reinforces transparency, sound governance and operational accountability across all five RIRs.
