AI office opens signature process for General-Purpose AI Code of Practice

The European Commission’s AI Office has invited providers of general-purpose AI models to sign the General-Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice. This voluntary code aims to facilitate early alignment with the requirements of the AI Act, which takes effect for GPAI providers on 2 August 2025.

Signatories will be publicly listed starting 1 August 2025. By signing, providers express their commitment to following the Code and, in return, benefit from streamlined compliance processes. The AI Office will prioritise oversight based on adherence to the Code, offering greater regulatory predictability and reduced administrative burden for participating companies.

To become a signatory, providers must complete and submit a Signatory Form, signed by an authorised representative, to the AI Office.
