AFRINIC constitutes new Governance Committee

The AFRINIC Board has announced the constitution of the organisation’s Governance Committee, which provides expertise and strategic guidance on governance matters to the Board, AFRINIC members and the wider Internet community.

The committee consists of three members elected by AFRINIC’s membership, two members appointed by the Board, one non-voting Board liaison, the AFRINIC Legal Adviser and representatives of the AFRINIC Secretariat serving as non-voting members.

The three elected members were selected during the AFRINIC Annual General Members Meeting held in Nairobi in 2026. The Board subsequently invited volunteers from the AFRINIC community before appointing two additional members.

The committee’s elected members are Daniel Khauka Nanghaka, serving until 31 December 2029; Afaf El Maayati, until 31 December 2028; and Maud Adjeley Ashong Elliot, until 31 December 2027. The Board-appointed members are Phumzile Madonsela, until 31 December 2027, and Eddy Lareine, until 31 December 2028. Laurent Ntumba will serve as the Board’s non-voting liaison until 31 December 2027.

B. Radhakissoon will serve as Legal Adviser to the committee, while Guylaine Laiyra will serve as its Secretary.

With the committee now constituted, its members will proceed with their work in accordance with its Terms of Reference and governance mandate.
