On 7 August 2024, CADE and partners hosted a webinar titled CSOs and the Global Digital Compact, bringing together 40 participants from five regions. The event examined civil society’s role in shaping global digital governance and reviewed current concerns with the GDC process, including a lack of reference to human rights and gender equality.
Speakers stressed the need for stronger multistakeholder cooperation, greater regional representation, and specific safeguards against surveillance and data overreach. Participants also discussed how platforms like the Open Government Partnership and regional IGFs can support CSO advocacy in the lead-up to the UN Summit of the Future.
