World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2025
The 2025 edition of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, branded as the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, will take place from 7 to 11 July in Geneva, Switzerland. This gathering marks twenty years since the original WSIS meetings held in Geneva in 2003 and Tunis in 2005. The event is co-hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Swiss Confederation, and co-organised by ITU, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
WSIS+20 is expected to bring together stakeholders from governments, civil society, private sector, academia, and international organisations for a week of reflection, discussion, and forward-looking dialogue. The forum will serve as a platform to assess achievements over the past two decades in implementing the WSIS outcomes, to identify ongoing challenges, and to share experiences and good practices in the use of digital technologies for sustainable development. It will also provide timely input to the upcoming review of the WSIS process by the UN General Assembly.
The agenda will include high-level dialogues, interactive thematic sessions, and special events such as the WSIS Prizes, a dedicated track for youth engagement, and a photo contest showcasing innovative digital solutions for development. Taking place alongside ITU’s AI for Good Global Summit, the forum will offer a unique space for synergies between digital governance, emerging technologies, and inclusive development goals.
All interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate and contribute to shaping the global digital cooperation agenda beyond 2025. More information, including the detailed programme and registration details, is available on the official event website.
