Bread&Net, SMEX’s annual digital rights unconference for West Asia & North Africa, returns in person to Beirut from Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 October 2025. The three-day programme features hands-on workshops, panels, and community sessions across tracks including digital rights 101, privacy and data governance, freedom of expression and information controls, surveillance and transnational repression, infrastructure and access, litigation and accountability, corporate responsibility, gender & tech, well-being, AI and emerging tech, public-interest technology, movement-building, funding, and an open track. Sessions are offered in Arabic and English, with interpretation available for selected sessions.

Who should attend: activists, journalists, technologists, policymakers, lawyers, researchers, and community organisers working on technology and human rights in the WANA region. The 2025 programme spans topics such as internet shutdowns, spyware, platform governance, rapid-response networks, DPI for the public interest, and practical digital security skills.
