Applications open for 2026–2027 DPI Safeguards Working Groups
The UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies and UNDP are inviting government officials, technical experts and other practitioners to join working groups focused on financing, governance and technical safeguards for digital public infrastructure.
The UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have opened applications for members of the 2026–2027 DPI Safeguards Working Groups. The initiative aims to translate the Universal DPI Safeguards Principles into practical guidance for countries developing and implementing digital public infrastructure (DPI).
The 10-month process, running from November 2026 to September 2027, will focus on financing, public financial management, governance and technical standards. The working groups will contribute to two planned outputs: a practical guide on building DPI with safeguards and the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework 3.0.
Applications are open through two streams. Working Group 1 is intended for government implementers and policymakers, particularly officials working on finance, planning, ICT and national DPI programmes. Working Group 2 is aimed at technical experts and strategic advisers from civil society, philanthropy, development organisations and related fields.
Applications close on 13 September 2026. The organisers are also inviting contributions through country case studies, the DPI Safeguards Resources Hub, public consultations and regional discussions.
