ICANN moves public datasets to new webpage without login requirement

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has launched a new web page for accessing public datasets that it generates and collects.

ICANN introduced its Open Data Platform in 2020 following a request from its community. The platform was intended to improve transparency and provide access to data connected to ICANN’s work. However, it operated on a separate website and required users to create an account and log in.

Under the new approach, the datasets are being moved to a dedicated page on ICANN’s main website. Users can view and download the information without registering or signing in.

The available material includes data on the number and types of registered domain names. Files are provided in CSV format, a widely supported format that can be opened with spreadsheet and data-analysis software. Users will not need to access the data through an application programming interface.

ICANN said the change will also reduce its maintenance, storage, and backup requirements.

The existing Open Data Platform will remain available until the end of August 2026, giving users time to test the new web page and update any processes that depend on the current system.
