WSIS Forum 2026 opens registration
Registration has opened for WSIS Forum 2026, the first forum to be held after the UN General Assembly completed the WSIS+20 review and renewed the framework for global digital cooperation.
Registration is now open for the WSIS Forum 2026, which will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6 to 10 July 2026. The event will be the first WSIS Forum held following the completion of the WSIS+20 review process by the UN General Assembly.
According to organisers, the programme will include an expanded High-Level Track, thematic exhibitions, and dedicated tracks focused on youth participation and digital development issues. Participation is free and open to all stakeholders.
Preparations for the forum are continuing through the WSIS Open Consultation Process. A final briefing is scheduled for 4 June at ITU headquarters in Geneva and will provide participants with an overview of the programme, thematic sessions, special tracks, and exhibition arrangements.
The forum will also host the 2026 WSIS Prizes ceremony, where 18 winners and 72 champions will be recognised across categories linked to the WSIS Action Lines and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Among the new initiatives announced ahead of the forum is the creation of a Multistakeholder Consultation Group under the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS). The group will provide a structured mechanism for engagement between UN agencies, governments, civil society, the technical community, academia, and the private sector. Expressions of interest are open until 12 June 2026.
Work is also underway on roadmaps for all 11 WSIS Action Lines, which are being developed in response to the UN General Assembly’s call for forward-looking implementation plans through 2035. Dedicated Action Line sessions during the forum will present progress and gather stakeholder input.
The programme will include a Youth Special Track covering topics such as AI governance, cybersecurity, digital well-being, sustainability, and connectivity, alongside a dedicated track on women and girls focused on gender equality across WSIS implementation efforts.
WSIS Forum 2026 will take place from 6 to 10 July in Geneva.
