IGF 2026 to take place in Nairobi in December

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has announced that its 21st annual meeting, IGF 2026, will be held from 14 to 18 December in Nairobi, Kenya.

The IGF is a global platform where governments, companies, civil society, and technical experts discuss public policy issues related to the internet and digital technologies. Topics typically include areas such as cybersecurity, digital inclusion, AI, and online rights.

According to organisers, the 2026 meeting is expected to span five days and include more than 250 sessions, with participation from over 165 countries and around 9,000 attendees.

Preparations for the event are ongoing. A call for thematic input invited stakeholders worldwide to submit perspectives on key challenges and priorities in digital governance. These contributions will help shape the meeting’s main themes, subthemes, and programme.

Participants were also invited to propose intersessional work, including initiatives such as Policy Networks and Best Practice Forums, which continue discussions between annual meetings.

Further details on the programme and participation are expected to be published ahead of the event.
