Bosnia and Herzegovina signs Council of Europe’s AI Framework Convention

Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law (STCE No. 225), joining seventeen other signatories as of 9 December 2025.

The Framework Convention is the first international, legally binding treaty designed to ensure that the development and use of AI systems comply with human rights standards, democratic principles and the rule of law. Its objective is to guide governments in regulating AI in ways that strengthen accountability, safeguard fundamental freedoms and prevent the misuse of automated systems in both public and private sectors.
