ICANN’s Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council meeting

10 Jul 2025

ICANN’s Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council will convene its next meeting on Thursday, 10 July 2025, beginning at 13:00 UTC (15:00 CEST). The session is expected to last around 2 hours and will continue the Council’s ongoing work on key policy decisions affecting the gTLD space.

The Council, as the principal policymaking body within ICANN for gTLDs, will review and vote on motions that advance multistakeholder policy development in areas such as domain name stability, string similarity, and implementation of PDP recommendations. Attendees can expect updates from Standing Committees, small teams (e.g., DNS Abuse, Registration Data Accuracy), and working groups, including progress reports on ongoing PDPs.

Agenda documents, motions, minutes, and recordings will be made available via the GNSO Library and Community Wiki ahead of the meeting. Community members can tune in live or access post-meeting materials to stay informed of Council decisions that shape the global domain name ecosystem.

Participants are encouraged to:

  • Review the published agenda and background materials before the meeting.
  • Monitor motions and voting items, especially those related to policy implementation or new PDP charters.
  • Follow the live session or access the audio/video recording and transcript afterward.
